Project Man of Mercy

With just 10 film kits, we could show the movie, Man of Mercy to over 160,000 people in India

PROJECT MAN OF MERCY

The USA celebrates festivals in great style! For Halloween, nearly 1 billion pounds of pumpkin and half a billion dollars worth of merchandise changed hands. Thanksgiving turkeys alone cost a whopping 1.2 billion dollars every year! In 2006, Christmas spending amounted to 30 billion dollars! It is estimated that this holiday season, Americans will spend close to $900 each! Truly, we are a blessed nation!

But what if we sent just a portion of this to those who are still strangers to the joy of Christmas because they know next to nothing about Jesus Christ? Starting in December, The Man of Mercy Project seeks to introduce at least 160,000 people living in the outback areas of India to Jesus Christ through film.

"During my missionary days'" says SIM founder, Ebenezer Samuel, " I remember spending several nights in the villages of North India screening the movie Man of Mercy, the story of Jesus. I had a simple motor scooter, the only available vehicle to transport the film kit and my team of evangelists. Our ‘theatre’ was usually the front yard of some benevolent family who agreed to let us borrow their electricity. But if such generosity was not shown, a large diesel generator was rented at high cost and great labor to our team.

"As night fell and the villagers came home from work in the fields, the show would start, attracting many excited children and curious parents. Gathering together, the whole village would sit and learn the story of Jesus. For many, this was the first time His name was heard. Through the cold night, huddling by bon-fire and tolerating frequent power outages, the people stayed, enthralled with the man Jesus, no one leaving before the film’s end."

This truly is a powerful, effective ministry! This Christmas season we would like to show the Man of Mercy on all 13 of our mission fields. A typical Film Kit consists of an LCD projector, a DVD player, two speakers, a portable generator and other minor accessories at a cost of $2,050. With just ten film kits, we could show the Man of Mercy to over 160,000 people, 90% who would be seeing this story for the first time in their lives!

Would you consider giving a Project Man of Mercy gift today? By giving $205, your gift plays a significant role in reaching potentially 1,600 people with the good news of the Savior this Christmas season.

Our prayer and goal is for 100 people to join with us to share the true joy of Christmas with those who have never heard! Please help spread the word with family, friends and churches as we all remember our Savior who came that all men might know love, life and freedom in Jesus’ name.
